This Privacy Policy explains how Hummingbird Care Link (“we,” “our,” or “the Platform”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information from users of the Hummingbird Care Network, including both Care Seekers and Care Providers.
We are committed to transparency and compliance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. About Hummingbird Care Link
Hummingbird Care Link is a care provider discovery and connection platform. We help families and care seekers find private-pay healthcare providers and enable providers to display their business information.
We do not:
Provide medical or clinical care
Process client payments between providers and care seekers
Store personal health information (PHI)
Sell user data
Engage in bidding or lead-selling
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Care Seekers
To create an account, Care Seekers provide:
A username
A password
We do not collect:
Health records or medical history
Government ID numbers
Payment or financial information
Insurance details
Any messages sent to providers by Care Seekers are transmitted directly to the provider; we do not use them for profiling or resale.
2.2 Care Providers
Providers create business profiles including:
Business name and contact information (phone, email, website)
Service areas and types
Pricing ranges
Business registration/license details (optional, if publicly available)
We do not collect:
Personal financial data unrelated to business operations
Protected health information of clients
Client records
Providers control what information is displayed publicly on their profile. Only information the provider chooses to share will be visible within the Hummingbird Care Network.
3. How Information Is Used
We use data to:
Enable account login and management
Display provider business profiles
Facilitate connection between care seekers and providers
Improve search and filtering functionality
Maintain platform security and integrity
We do not sell or share information for marketing purposes, and we do not engage in data mining.
4. Search & Filtering
Providers are discovered based on:
Service areas and locations
Service types
Delivery models (in-home, telehealth, video, etc.)
Pricing ranges
Profile completeness
Search results are determined by relevance and filter settings, not by payment amount or bidding.
Providers must fully set filters and complete profiles to maximize visibility. Complete profiles increase the likelihood of being discovered by care seekers looking for specific services.
5. Payment & Financial Data
Membership fees for providers are processed through Stripe, a secure, PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment processor.
Hummingbird Care Link does not store or process credit card information on our servers.
The platform only retains subscription status and payment confirmation to manage accounts.
Founding providers who joined during the early access phase lock in their rate permanently; future providers may pay higher tiers.
6. Data Storage & Security
We implement technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect data, including:
Encrypted passwords
Role-based dashboard access
Secure hosting environment
Access to provider dashboards and administrative systems is restricted to authorized personnel.
7. Privacy & Public Visibility
Care Seeker login credentials are private and not shared.
Provider profiles are business-facing; only information intentionally shared will be visible publicly.
Providers can edit or remove profile information at any time.
No personal health information of clients is collected, stored, or shared.
8. Data Retention
We retain account and profile data only as long as necessary to:
Maintain active accounts
Comply with legal obligations
Support platform functionality
Inactive or closed accounts may be deleted according to our retention schedule.
9. Geographic Scope
Providers are searchable in cities and regions they specify in their profile.
The platform operates in Canada and the United States, but search visibility is controlled by provider-selected locations.
10. Third-Party Services
Payments are processed through Stripe.
Hosting and infrastructure services are provided by secure, trusted providers.
No third-party advertisers can collect user data via our platform.
11. User Control
Providers can update, hide, or remove profile information at any time.
Care Seekers can update login credentials, request deletion, or close their account at any time.
12. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves.
Significant changes will be reflected with a new effective date. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
